Day 01
ARRIVAL IN PARO AND DRIVE TO THIMPHU (60 KM / 1:30 HRS)
- Meeting at airport upon arrival by Office Personnel. Transfer to hotel. Arrive at Paro Airport. Complete
Immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu. After checking into your hotel (Early Check-In subject
to availability), proceed for a panoramic private sightseeing of the capital of Bhutan which includes the
following places of interest:
• Memorial Chorten
• Kuensel Phodrang – World’s Largest Sitting Buddha Statue
• Takin Reserve & Mini Zoo
• BBS Tower – Provides a vantage point view of the Thimpu Valley.
Dinner & overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 02
THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING
- After breakfast, proceed for full day private sightseeing tour of Thimphu, which includes the following
places of interest:
• Folk Heritage Museum
• Royal Textile Academy & Museum
• Anim Dratshang (Nunnery)
• Trashichhodzong – Fortress in Thimphu
• Handicrafts Emporium
Dinner & overnight stay in Thimphu. (Note: On weekends, guests would also have the opportunity of visiting
the weekend market, an interesting market with local items and bargain price handicraft goods)
Day 03
THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA (100 KM / 3:00 HRS)
- After breakfast, proceed toward Punakha. Enroute, halt at Dochu La - A mountain pass leading further
into the Punakha Valley. It offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of Eastern Himalayan Mountain
ranges. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic
backdrop to the tranquillity of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. On reaching, check-in and
later proceed for visit to Punakha Dzong, Punakha suspension bridge and Chimi Lakhang (fertility
temple). Dinner & overnight stay in Punakha.
Day 04
GANGTEY-PHOBJIKHA VALLEY EXCURSION (2 HRS PER WAY)
- After breakfast, start for full day excursion trip to Gangtey Valley (9,842 ft.). On the way you shall come
across different flora and fauna, monuments, villages and people. Stop at places for sightseeing and
photography. While in Gangtey visit the Gangtey Goemba the only Nyingmapa monastery in western
Bhutan, which was established in the 17th century. Then explore the Phobjikha valley, one of the most
beautiful glacial valleys in the Himalayas and the winter roosting place for the endangered Black necked
Cranes which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. You may choose to hike around the
Valley. After visiting the valley drive back to Punakha. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.
Alternatively, instead of going to Gangtey / Phobjikha, you also have an option of spending the day in
Punakha Valley itself. After breakfast hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten which is about 45 Mins
easy hike to the top of the hill. It offers a breath-taking view of the Punakha Valley. After that visit
Punakha Suspension Bridge which is one of the longest in Bhutan. Later visit The Sangchhen Dorji
Lhuendrup Nunnery, a temple plus nunnery perched on a ridge overlooking Toebesa village, Punakha
and Wangduephodrang valleys. Rest of the day free for leisure. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue
Day 05
PUNAKHA TO PARO (125 KM / 4:00 HRS)
- After breakfast, check out of your hotel and proceed to Paro. The Paro valley extends from the confluence
of the Paro Chhu and the Wang Chhu rivers at Chuzom upto Mt. Jomolhari at the Tibetan border to the
North. This picturesque region is one of the widest valleys in the kingdom and is covered in fertile rice
fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. After checking into your hotel,
you would proceed for a private sightseeing tour of Paro which would include the following places:
• Drukgyel Dzong – Ruins of an old fortress in Paro
• Kyichu Lakhang – Famous Monastery in Paro
• National Museum of Bhutan
Dinner & overnight stay in Paro.
Day 06
PARO – EXCURSION TO CHELE PASS
- After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Chele La pass (12,200ft) - The highest motorable point
in Bhutan. On a clear day one can get a breath-taking view of Mt. Jhomolhari (23,996 ft the second
highest peak of Bhutan) and other Himalayan giants. Visit Paro Dzong while returning to Paro. Evening
at leisure. Dinner and Overnight Stay.
Day 07
PARO – EXCURSION TO TAKTSANG MONASTERY
- After breakfast today visit most iconic place of Bhutan -The Taktsang Monastery – a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. It requires 2-3 hours’ trek. Evening free at leisure to explore more of Paro markets,
and may you find a perfect souvenir to take back home. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 08
DEPARTURE
- Depart with Happy memories from the Kingdom of Happiness - Bhutan!
