    Things to Look Out For

    field notes
    1

India is not one country, climate-wise

Rajasthan in February reads dry-cold; Kerala in February reads humid-warm; Sikkim in February might be under snow. Pack for the specific itinerary, not 'India in general'. Tibro's per-state tours are tuned to one climate at a time. Don't try to chain three of them back-to-back.

    2

    Tipping is structured, not arbitrary

Driver tips at ₹500-1000 per day, guide tips at ₹500-1000 per half-day, hotel housekeeping ₹100 per day, restaurant 10% on top of any service charge already listed. Hand the driver/guide an envelope on the last day rather than tipping daily. It is more dignified for them.

    3

Tap water and ice are a real consideration

Every Tibro-tier hotel provides sealed bottled water in the room daily. Use it for brushing your teeth too. At restaurants, ask for "sealed bottled water" specifically. Some places will pour from a filtered jug, which is fine in some kitchens and not in others. Ice is the hidden trap; ask for "no ice" with cold drinks unless the hotel makes its own.

    When to Go

India has three windows for travel. October–March is the cool/dry season. The headline window, when most of the subcontinent is at its most welcoming. April–June is hot and increasingly dangerous in the north plains. July–September is the southwest monsoon. Beautiful for Kerala Ayurveda lovers, hard for sightseeing. This Kerala tour sits squarely in the post-monsoon clear window.

Kerala has two monsoons (southwest Jun–Aug heavy; northeast Oct–Nov a brief secondary). The Winters 25-26 departure window avoids both. Ayurveda treatments traditionally peak with the monsoon, but the tour itinerary itself works best in dry season.

    Your Memoir

    Here's how you'll remember it.

    boat past — Varanasi, India

Day 2. Dawn boat past the burning ghats

    Day2
    ✦ Memoir

The boat at Varanasi leaves before five. The boatman lets you pick whether to start up or down the river. Up takes you past Manikarnika, the burning ghat, where the pyres run day and night. Photography is not done there. The light comes up slowly over the far bank, and the bathers begin the morning rituals as you drift back.

    Varanasi01
    Ram Janmabhoomi — Ayodhya, India

Day 3. Ram Janmabhoomi at noon, the new temple

    Day3
    ✦ Memoir

The new Ram temple at Ayodhya was consecrated in 2024 and the crowd is still working out its rhythm. Security is tight, no phones inside. The sandstone is from Bansi Pahadpur in Rajasthan and the carvings are Nagara-style. The priests run a rolling darshan that keeps the queue moving.

    Ayodhya02
    Hanumangarhi steps — Ayodhya, India

Day 4. Hanumangarhi steps, the prasad ladoos

    Day4
    ✦ Memoir

Hanumangarhi is the older shrine in Ayodhya. A fort-like Hanuman temple at the top of seventy-six steps. The ladoo prasad is famous; the queue for it is separate from the darshan queue. The priest will tika you on the forehead and the tika is fresh sandalwood. The view of the new Ram temple from up there is the postcard shot.

    Ayodhya03
    Triveni Sangam — Prayagraj, India

Day 5. Triveni Sangam at the boat point

    Day5
    ✦ Memoir

The Sangam at Prayagraj is the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna. The Saraswati is said to join here too, invisibly. The water actually changes colour at the meeting line; you can see it from the boat. The pilgrims take a dip and the pandit on the boat marks you with the Sangam clay. The boats are slow.
